A tourist in Quebec City is not quite sure to make of a street mime posing as a statue. This particular mime was very adept at holding still for long periods of time, until a passer-by placed some money in the box on the ground in front of his "pedestal." This activated the mime, initiating a variety of robotic movements accompanied by the sounds of a whistle held in his mouth.
The mime would then interact with the crowd and pose for pictures with the "activator." To the right, a young woman is charmed by the antics of the "statue come to life."

I really like the photography on your site. Those statues are well known in London too, around Covent Garden market. I used to work there and remember seeing many different artists with statue routines, they're really talented because it's not easy being a street entertainer.
I was in QC this past weekend, and I saw that "statue" in front of the Tourist Information building. For a moment, I couldn't tell if he was real, or "real." Then I saw his sign.
love the photos you post. There are statue men like that in San Fransisco too. they request a tip to take a photo with them.
